The Power of a Guiding Hand

“Coaching is not about telling people what to do. It’s about asking the right questions and helping them find the answers themselves.” – Amanda Gore

The most powerful thing I’ve done for my writing career and for myself was to seek out people further along on the journey to mentor me.

Joining a writer’s organization, finding a critique group, and investing in a writing coach allowed me to grow exponentially in the craft and business of writing in just a few short years.

But it was my experience with a life-coach and mentor that helped me find the tools to regulate myself so I could actually get the writing done.

As I did my own work, I realized many of my writer friends and coaching clients were stuck in the creative process for the same reasons.

It wasn’t that they lacked the skills to craft story, it was that their inner critic whispered limiting and self-defeating stories that consumed their time, exhausted their energy, stole their attention, and occupied their creative space.

As I began combining elements of life coaching with my story coaching, I also found deeper connections between my clients’ struggles in story and their inner lives.

An author who struggled with creating vivid setting, lived more in their head than the real world, and lacked a sense of place and sensory awareness.

An older writer who lived alone struggled with dialogue. When asked to listen to other conversations and focus on the subtext, she confided she didn’t have regular social interactions.

By addressing the life issues, they found their writing grew richer and their thoughts, feelings, and actions shifted to support their identity as a storyteller.

Group Coaching

T.E.A.S.Workshop $197 (1 month commitment)

Each season, I offer a month-long, deep-dive to help storytellers align their time, energy, attention, and space to their personal values, life seasons, and capacity.

Over four weeks, you will acknowledge the story you’re telling yourself around each area and how it is playing out in  your lived experience.

With self-compassion and somatic awareness, you’ll explore new possibilities that align with your values, needs, and capacity.

Releasing any guilt or shame, you’ll discern the practical steps to move forwards, envision a new way of living, and rewrite your story.

If you’re looking for a good place to start working with a coach, this is an affordable option that will change both your writing and your life.

This is a month long commitment that requires 4-5 hours of work each week. The weekly call is 45 minutes with 15 minutes of Q&A. It will be recorded and available for playback. The guided activities are thought-provoking, but playful experiments to shift your perspective. They are best done in smaller bits of time, put away, and returned to with fresh eyes. If you want to get the most out of this time, plan to spend 30 minutes each day in focused exploration.

During our weekly calls, I will cheer your wins and help you adjust the plan if any hurdles arise.

Author Coaching $997 (3 month commitment)

If you’ve finished a few books, but you’re struggling to figure out who you are as an author and build a readership, it’s a good time to work with a coach. Each week, we’ll explore your values, why you write, who your audience is, and how your stories meet an internal need that will shape your brand. Over three months, we’ll bring all the ingredients for a satisfying brand identity that you can easily create and shape content around. You’ll walk away with a personalized action plan and renewed confidence as you continue sharing your stories with the world.

I also offer these over 6 months with bi-weekly calls for those who have less time to commit.

After these sessions, you also qualify for bi-weekly or monthly accountability calls for 20% off my hourly rate.
